Frequently asked questions
How do I keep my image from stretching or distorting when resizing?
Keep the aspect ratio lock toggled on. When you type a new width, the resizer automatically calculates and sets the proportional height according to the original aspect ratio.
What algorithm is used to scale down the image?
The resizer uses multi-step bilinear or bicubic downsampling on the HTML5 Canvas, eliminating jagged pixel stepping and aliasing artifacts.
Can I enlarge a small photo without it getting blurry?
Enlarging a low-resolution raster image cannot invent new detail that wasn’t originally captured. For photo enlargement, use our Image Enlarger tool which applies specialized smoothing filters.
