# Free Developer Tools

Suite of 100% private, client-side developer utilities including JSON formatters, base64 encoders, cryptography tools, code minifiers, and regex testers.

## What is Developer Tools & Utilities?

The Developer Tools are quick utilities for everyday engineering work that you can use on sensitive data because nothing leaves your browser. Format, validate, minify and diff JSON; convert between JSON, CSV, XML and YAML; encode and decode Base64, URLs and HTML entities; decode JWTs; generate SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and MD5 hashes of text or files; beautify HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SQL and XML; generate UUIDs, passwords and random strings; test regular expressions; explain cron expressions; convert timestamps and number bases; and work with colours, contrast and gradients. Hashing uses the native Web Crypto API.

## How to use Developer Tools & Utilities

1. **Choose a utility** — Pick a formatter, converter, encoder, hash or generator.
2. **Paste your input** — Paste JSON, text, a token or a file; most tools update as you type.
3. **Copy the result** — Copy the output or download it.

## Frequently asked questions

### Is it safe to paste API tokens or production data?

Yes. Parsing, decoding and hashing run in your browser’s JavaScript engine; the data is not sent to a server.

### Does the JSON validator show where the error is?

Yes. Invalid JSON produces the parser’s error message, including the position where parsing failed.

### Can I hash files, not just text?

Yes. The hash generators and File Checksum accept files and compute SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-512 and MD5 locally.
